Tea party anyone?

Recently, I gave away a gift certificate at my MOPS group. The lucky recipient cashed it in for birthday cupcakes for her daughters who were turning 5 and 7. They were having a tea party at an actual tea house, how cute is that?! So, I did mini teacup-cakes for the girls who are (according to mom) very girly and love pink and purple... Here are the very girly, very mini, super adorable teacup cupcakes!

Peace, love & cupcakes- take 2

I didn't take many pictures of this batch, because these are very similar to some I've done before. I set out to match some party plates the mom of the birthday girl emailed to me and I think they turned out pretty cute :)

Rock n' roll!

A former student of mine needed some cupcakes to celebrate his birthday. According to his mom, he loves rock and roll music. That was music to my ears (ha ha), since I hadn't done music-themed cupcakes yet! They involved lots of detail work- but I LOVE them :) They looked pretty snazzy on top of the cookies & cream cupcakes he chose too. I hope you had a great birthday, Jason!

Where to even begin... A good friend of mine asked me to do the cupcakes for a wedding shower. Instantly I begin thinking of wedding-y things: flowers, wedding bells, you know, pretty things. Well, when she came back and asked me to include a 1/2 monkey 1/2 pony, a creepy doll and a brain with a bite out of it, needless to say, I was slightly shocked.
Apparently they are doing a couples shower and the groom-to-be is a big fan of a singer named Jonathan Coulton. He has songs about a code monkey, IKEA, a mustache, a creepy doll, a brain with a bite out of it and a 1/2 pony 1/2 monkey. So it started to make a little bit more sense.
All in all, even thought they are a really strange request, they are also strangely cute! And if the bride and groom are happy, I'm happy :)

"Can you tell me how to get...

...how to get to Sesame Street?"
For a little girl's birthday, she requested Sesame Street- specifically Elmo, Cookie Monster and Abby. After a little research (they didn't have Abby when we were kids, did they?) I transformed my original monster cupcakes into some pretty friendly Sesame Street monsters :)

'Tis the Season, take 2

Somehow, Mark talked me into doing cupcakes for his business Christmas party ;) These were a little more whimsical then the classic trees and stars I had done before. I did love those Christmas trees so of course, I did them again. But I also added Santa, Rudolph, Frosty and some other really fun Christmas icons. I love how they turned out, especially Santa and the glittery leaves on the holly. Merry Christmas everyone!

'Tis the Season!

These festive guys were made for a friend of mine who was hosting a table at a Christmas event. She wanted something traditional and yummy. We decided on a cinnamon spice cupcake with cinnamon buttercream frosting decorated with Christmas trees and Christmas stars. I think they turned out nicely, especially the cute little trees, which I had a lot of fun decorating :)
